PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new solid liquid separator for effectively separating a large quantity of sludge water such as feed water containing suspended matter, slime, sludge deposit or the like or a waste water liquid discharged in a civil engineering work into a liquid portion and a solid portion. SOLUTION: The solid liquid separator 1 is provided with a treating vessel 4 provided with a projecting body 18 projected to the inside of a drum part, a filter body 5 formed nearly bag like, a pressure reducing evacuating part 3 for applying negative pressure to sludge water S housed in the filter body 5 and a vertically driving apparatus 6 for vertically moving the sludge water S while controlling on the inside surface of the drum part of the treating vessel 4 and the solid liquid separation is carried out by holding the opening end side of the filter body 5 on a receiving port 15 of the treating vessel 6, charging a large quantity of the sludge water S into the filter body 5 in a state of being hung in the treating vessel 4 and sucking the sludge water S by evacuating while bringing into contact with the projecting body and moving up and down.
