The invention pertains to a closure for a container, consisting of a closure underpart (10) and a screw cap (20), where the closure underpart (10) connects to the container opening by means of a base part (11), and has a pour spout (15) that is joined to the base part (11). The screw cap (20) with cap base and inside-threaded cap casing (21) screws off and onto the outside-threaded pour spout (15). The cap casing (21) of the screw cap (20) is extended at the open end with at least one locking tab (22). The locking tabs (22) of the screw cap (20) cooperate with catches (23) on the closure part to form an interlocking connection, the catches having in the screw-on direction a flat sloping flank which verges into an abrupt catch flank, forming with the locking tabs (22) the interlocking connection, which can be broken by displacing the locking tab (22) relative to the catches (23). A child safety lock that can be easily broken is created with an annular flange (14) which forms an integral part of the closure underpart set off from the cap casing, which at least partially covers the locking tabs (22) and which bears the catches (23) on the inside facing the locking tabs (22).
