PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that recently a power transmission belt used for driving an accessory tends to greatly vary in tension, and the stress of the power transmission belt only increases by equipping with a simple free wheeling clutch for the pulley device, and the life shortens. SOLUTION: In the case where a rotational speed of the belt suddenly increases, the free wheeling clutch 10 is formed to come into a wedge angle 2 which is greater than of the wedge angle from a wedge angle which once came into a lock state by continuously intermeshing for the narrower side of a wedge shape space 18 for a roller 19 so that a sudden tension change is not added on the belt 3, and a continuous tension change is added. Therefore, the life of the belt can be extended compared with the conventional one even when the rotational speed of the belt is frequently changed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
