<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical burst signal routing system in which a variable length optical burst can be efficiently transferred while suppressing low transfer delay or discard in the middle of transfer. <P>SOLUTION: Each optical node comprising an optical network holds information on a distance to an incoming optical node as a routing table for each incoming optical node when each out link is used. When an optical burst signal arrives (step S2), while referring to the routing table, the optical node selects an out link having an empty channel or empty buffer and a minimum distance to the incoming optical node (steps S3 and S4) and transfers the burst signal (step S9). In such a case, when the transfer distance such as the number of optical nodes to be passed by the optical burst signal or the transfer delay exceeds a threshold, the optical burst signal is discarded (steps S6, S7 and S8) and the congestion of optical burst signals in the optical network is avoided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
