PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure flexibility in designing a coil which uses conductor segments. SOLUTION: A plurality of lap-wound coils 30 in which U-shaped conductor segments 20 are inserted in a slot 14 of a stator core 12 while n-pieces of conductor segments 20 disposed radially are connected in series, are spaced by a single magnetic pole. The lap-wound coils 30 adjoining each other with an interval of a single magnetic pole, in other words, the conductor segment 20 disposed closest to the center of one lap-wound coil 30 and the conductor segment 20 disposed farthest from the center of the other lap-wound coil 30 are connected together through a connecting segment 32. Since, the lap-wound coils 30 are coupled together to constitute a rotating electric machine, the number of turns can be selected from even numbers, for assured flexibility in design.
