PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for producing an image recording medium comprising a stack of a photoconductive layer for recording generating charges upon irradiation with an electromagnetic wave for recording, a part for storing the charges as an electrostatic latent image, a charge transport layer and a photoconductive layer for reading, and having a microplate for equalizing the potential of the charges at the charge storing part wherein the microplate is formed without causing deterioration of the charge transport layer principally comprising a-Se. SOLUTION: A magnetic mask 30 for depositing a microplate 18 having an opening 30a corresponding to the shape of the microplate is secured to a charge storing part 19 through a photoconductive layer 14 for reading and a charge transport layer 13 by the magnetic force of a support 20 for deposition formed of a magnet and then the microplate 18 is formed by deposition.
