PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for mounting without damaging a liquid crystal cell when a TCP is impressed on the cell via an anisotropic conductive member. SOLUTION: The apparatus for mounting an electronic component comprises a suction table 37 having a holding surface 37a for sucking and holding the liquid crystal cell 4 by projecting an edge from the holding surface, a drive source for driving to position the table in the vertical direction, a height sensor 38 for detecting the height of the lower surface of the edge of the cell sucked and held to the table, a controller for driving the drive source based on the detection of the sensor to bring the height of the lower surface of the edge of the cell sucked and held to the table in agreement with the height of the upper end face of a backup member 17 to position the lower surface of the edge of the board to the upper end face of the backup member, and an impressing tool 15 for impressing the TCP 6 to the upper surface of the edge of the cell supported on the lower surface of the edge by the upper end face of the backup member.
