PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve boosting ratio by eliminating spurious in the band of a contouring vibration mode piezoelectric transformer. SOLUTION: An input electrode that is half the length of a ceramic substrate is formed at the center of the main surface of a piezoelectric ceramic substrate that is a rectangle whose length/width ratio is approximately 2:1, and an output electrode is formed on both the end faces in the longitudinal direction. The input and output sides are polarized in the thickness direction and in the longitudinal direction, respectively, namely in opposite directions each. Slits are formed from both the sides of the center in the longitudinal direction, and the both sides operate in a symmetrical contour vibration mode. Constituents at both the sides are cancelled out and suppressed at a portion where spurious displacement is maximized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
