Force measurement device comprises: an elongated element (1) anchored at one end and free at its other end; means (8) for application of a force to the element such that it flexes; and means (13, 14, 16) for measuring the flexing so that the applied force can be determined. A stop (2) is positioned adjacent to the flexing element to limit its movement when the applied force exceeds a limiting value. The invention also relates to a corresponding motor vehicle seat equipped with an inventive sensor.
