An electrical switch has a movable contact [422] mounted on a bimetallic carrier [41]. The bimetallic carrier is moved to the active state where the contact engages a fixed contact [262] by pressing a push button [10]. This has a transmission to the bimetallic strip provided by a drive plate [3] that is turned to displace the strip.
