The shaft of an open-end spinning rotor has a vibrating ball as a thrust bearing. The bearing element on the shaft end is of greater hardness than steel and is fitted concentrically with its surface essentially flush with the shaft. The length of the bearing element can be 2-3 times its dia., its dia. about half the dia. of the shaft, and it can be fitted into a shaped recess. Element can be made of ceramic and pressed or glued into the recess. USE/ADVANTAGE - Reduces wear and retains dimensional accuracy in the positioning of the rotor in its housing. |
