PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for remotely controlling a digital broadcasting receiver are provided to allow a user to remotely control not only basic functions of the digital broadcasting receiver but also a reservation recording function of a personal video recorder through a portable communication terminal. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for remotely controlling a digital broadcasting receiver(20) includes a portable communication terminal(10), a modem(21), and a personal video recorder(22). The portable communication terminal connects with the digital broadcasting receiver through a communication network to receive service information, transmits user's commands and displays results obtained by carrying out the commands. The modem is connected with the portable communication terminal to receive and deliver the user's commands. The personal video recorder performs operations according to the user's commands and stores the operation results in a hard disk. |
