PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel polymer useful as a luminescent material, a charge transfer material.

SOLUTION: The polymer comprises repeating units represented by formula (1) [wherein A1is -Z- or -Z-Z- (wherein Z is an optionally substituted atom); the bond length ratio as defined by (bond length between C2 and A1)/(bond length between C2 and C1) is at least 1.10 wherein C2 is the carbon in positionαto A1, and C1 is the carbon in positionβto A1; and R1to R6are each hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, or the like] and having a number- average molecular weight of 103-108(in terms of the molecular weight of polystyrene).
