PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toggle-type mold clamping device which does not bring about an increase in the overall length of a device for the purpose of setting up a guide mechanism for a movable die plate. SOLUTION: A fixed die plate 1 and a link housing 5 are connected to each other through a tie bar 6. A movable die plate 2 is connected to the forward face of the link housing 5 through a toggle mechanism 7. On the back of the movable die plate 2, two pieces of slide bars are fixed and each of the slide bars 21 is stretched parallel in a direction where the movable die plate 2 moves from the back of the movable die plate 2. In addition, two pieces of hollow rods 23 corresponding to the slide bars 21 are fixed on the forward face of the link housing 5 and each of the hollow rods 23 is stretched parallel in a direction where the movable die plate 2 moves from the forward face of the link housing 5.
