ZINC OXIDE-BASE COMPOSITION EMITTING YELLOWED LIGHT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zinc oxide-base composition emitting yellowed light.

SOLUTION: The zinc oxide-base composition comprises at least two kinds of solid solution components in all of at least one kind of aluminum, gallium and indium which are group III elements contributing to the formation of a donor level in zinc oxide and at least one kind of sodium and lithium which are alkali metals contributing to the formation of an acceptor level in the zinc oxide. The zinc oxide-base composition exhibits a continuous emission of a broad band ranging from ≤460 nm on the short wavelength side to ≥750 nm on the long wavelength side for excitation with particle rays or electromagnetic waves having energy exceeding at least the band gap energy of the composition. Thereby, emission of the yellowed color corresponding to x=0.45 to 0.47 and y=0.45 to 0.47 in the CIE 1964 supplementary standard colorimetric system is provided.
