PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily generate embroidery data concerning multi-color embroidery without generating useless embroidery data. SOLUTION: Image data are read from a pattern by an image scanner, the pattern is divided into a plurality of areas by each color and, then, the area without requiring embroidery such as a background is designated by the operation of an operator. Thus, embroidery data based on the pattern are generated from the remaining areas other than the area without requiring embroidery. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
