<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium wherein dispersibility of barium ferrite magnetic powder is improved and whose electromagnetic transducing characteristics are excellent. <P>SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer containing ferromagnetic powder and a binder on at least one surface of a non-magnetic substrate, the ferromagnetic powder consists of barium ferrite powder which is treated with a compound represented by formula R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>N (wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a 2-10C alkyl group, a 2-10C alkenyl group, a 3-6C cyclic alkyl group or a 6-12C aryl group) or a pyridine compound. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
