PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a unit and to increase capacity of it by preventing stress from concentrating on the end of the thin front side of an output disk. SOLUTION: A toroidal type continuously variable transmission has a structure in which the output cone disks 6 and 7 are rotatably supported by a needle bearing 51 on a spindle 10 while disabling stroke. A cylindrical holder 52 of the needle bearing 51 is provided with a through hole 52a near the back surfaces of the output cone disks 6 and 7 than a needle roller 53 position, strip grooves 6a and 7a are formed in the inner peripheries of the output cone disks 6 and 7 so as to face to the through hole 52a in the axial line direction, a snap ring 54 projecting out of the through hole 52a in the cylindrical holder 52 is engaged with the strip grooves 6a and 7a. Thus, the snap ring 54 is disposed on the spindle 10 near the back surface of the output cone disks 6 and 7 than the needle roller 53. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
