<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data coding unit in which image data can be efficiently and rapidly transferred. <P>SOLUTION: An image data coding unit 101 comprises a memory interface 110 for controlling reading and writing of data in an external memory 111, an MPEG2 processing unit 102 for compression coding process of a first compressibility, and coding/decoding units 107, 108 and 109 provided between the unit 102 and the interface 110 to compression-code data output from the processing unit to an external memory at a second compressibility smaller than the first compressibility and decoding data to be output from the memory to the processing unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
