PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a power line modem using a power line as a transfer medium for transfer power, to distant locations by eliminating effects of noises and attenuation with a relay of data through the use of a repeater. SOLUTION: The modem comprises a repeater 4 near by a distribution panelboard including breakers 5, acquires temporarily data packets transmitted from terminal modems 3 on a transmission side through the use of the repeater 4 and transfers the data packets. Terminal modems 3 on a destination side receive the data packets transferred from the repeater 4. For controlling the transferring, transmission identifiers indicating which of the repeater 4 or terminal modems 3 is the origin of transmission are included in the data packets.
