PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pen-type input device that has a wheel mechanism on the grip part of the device and permits the simple operation of an application, using a wheel mechanism on an information terminal device without changing the hold of the pen. SOLUTION: The pen-type input device 10 comprises a wheel mechanism part 11, a first switch 12, a second switch 13, a recoding unit 14, a CPU 15, a ROM 16, a RAM 17 and a communication unit 18. The wheel mechanism part 11 has a wheel part that can be rotated for operation and outputs data, according to the amount of rotation by the rotary operation. The first switch 12 and the second switch 13 are depressing type switches, and output data in accordance with the depressing of button parts. By executing a program for controlling the pen-type input device with the CPU 15, the data are transmitted by wireless transfer via the communication unit 18 to an input/output device 20.
