PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing method for acoustic data and still picture data. SOLUTION: Acoustic data are collected and recorded in an acoustic data recording area, and still picture data corresponding to still pictures reproduced for an acoustic reproduction period of each track are collected and recorded in a still picture data recording area. Individual track control information is recorded in a TOC area by using still picture group designation information by each individual track, and control information including information of a set of designation of a particular still picture in the still picture group and designation of display timing. Even after reproduction as to a selected, the still picture data are stored in a still picture data memory 5. When it is discriminated that the still picture group in the track control information of a selected reproduction track is the same as the still picture group stored in the memory 5, no storage is made from an optical disk to the memory 5.
