PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively evacuate to the outside gas discharged from a safety valve provided at the sealing plate of a battery with a simple structure, without changing the structure of the battery into a special shape. SOLUTION: In the battery pack, a plurality of batteries 10 having a safety valve 50 at the end part are connected in series and coupled linearly and a shield cap 60 is coupled to the end part of the coupled batteries 10. The shield cap 60 comprises a first insertion part 61 in which the end part of one of the batteries 10 mutually coupled is inserted and a second insertion part 62 in which the end part of the other battery 10 is inserted. In the battery pack, the end parts of the adjoining two batteries 10 are inserted in the first insertion part 61 and the second insertion part 62 and, thereby, an enclosed chamber 63 is formed between the batteries 10 by the shield caps 60. The shield cap 60 has a vent hole 64 opened communicating with this enclosed chamber 63. The battery pack evacuates gas which is discharged from the safety valve 50 by connecting the vent hole 64 to an exhaust passage 70 of the gas. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
