<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dimming device improved in optical functions and to provide an imaging device improved in performance, picture quality, and reliability by arranging the dimming device in an optical path. <P>SOLUTION: The dimming device has a dimming element equipped with a liquid crystal element and a polarizing element, and a polarization eliminating element (depolarizer) which is arranged on the incidence side or/and exitting side of the light of the dimming element. The imaging device has the dimming device composed of the liquid crystal element and polarizing element, in the optical path of an imaging system and the dimming device equipped with the dimming element equipped with the liquid crystal element and polarizing element and the polarization eliminating element (depolarizer) which is arranged on the incidence side or/and the exitting side of the light of the dimming element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
