Use of heat shock protein (HSP) inducing agent(s) (I) is claimed in: (1) reducing the secondary effects of retinoids (II); (2) maintaining a physiological HSP level in cells and/or skin during treatment with (II), (3) regulating the inflammatory cytokine level in cells and/or skin during treatment with (II) and/or (4) protecting cells and/or skin against external stress during treatment with (II). An Independent claim is included for cosmetic, pharmaceutical or dermatological compositions comprising (I) and (II) in a suitable medium.
