<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for supporting the proposal of merchandise purchase in a way which is convenient to both a seller and a customer. <P>SOLUTION: A business support server 18 stores the characteristics of merchandise to be sold by mail, the interrelation of the pieces of merchandise, the information of a customer, and the purchase history of the customer or the like, and preliminarily prepares and stores merchandise whose purchase should be proposed to the customer as a temporary proposal based on the past information. When any inquiry is made from the customer, the business support server 18 prepares a main proposal under consideration of the inquiry contents being the current information.
