PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for identifying the designable backbone configurations of proteins having an amino acid sequence in which the number of amino acids exceeds 30. SOLUTION: The new method for identifying the designable backbone configurations of proteins is provided with a step (a) for specifying a predetermined number of amino acid secondary structure elements having a group of dihedral pairs, a step (b) for generating a group of stacks (the arrangement of the secondary structure elements) containing the secondary structure elements, and a step (c) for evaluating the designability of each of the stacks.
