PURPOSE: An auto-tensioner of a chain of a vehicle is provided to reduce the noise and vibration of a chain by blocking up the inflow of air into a high pressure chamber and preventing the aeration of a chain auto-tensioner. CONSTITUTION: A chain auto-tensioner includes a low pressure chamber(62), a high pressure chamber(64), an air discharge outlet(60), and an air separator(66). The low pressure chamber is formed above a ball(52) in a piston(54). Oil flows into the piston via an oil inlet(53) formed on one face of the piston through the low pressure chamber. The high pressure chamber is formed below the ball. The oil flowing from the low pressure chamber is stored in the high pressure chamber. Through the air discharge outlet, the air mixed in the oil flowing into the low pressure chamber is discharged. The air separator separates air from the air before the high pressure chamber. The flow of the oil from the low pressure chamber to the high pressure chamber is prevented. Thereby, the aeration of the auto-tensioner due to the flow of oil into the high pressure chamber is avoided.
