The invention is a system and method for publishing distributed applications accessable over a distributed network, which also allows integration between such distributed applications without the need for a publishing computer to accept remote procedure calls from clients. In one embodiment, the invention includes a remote application thereon. The service agent for interpreting the data i/o format of the published application and the published applicaiton monitors and reports on conditions of a building or structures's environment.
