Method for input of text line/blocks in multifunctional display of motor vehicle, uses cursor for selecting symbols or characters with placement

Method allows independent movement in two axial directions of its symbol- or character-selection and its symbol- or character-positioning/order. Wheel (3) protruding from actuating console (4), is used to move cursor up and down. To left and right of cursor are keys (5,6) having activating direction parallel to the wheel rotational axis, thus allowing further activation level e.g. from vertical scroll movement to vertical scroll movement. Independent claims are given for the following: (A) a device for inputting text lines/blocks via a cursor. (B) A software program product.
