A method for storage of data in which system errors caused by faulty memory cells are eliminated. In the memory device, redundant memory cells are prepared and a specifiable access mode for accessing the redundant memory cells is prepared and faulty memory cells of the memory device are replaced in dependence on the given access mode during operation of the memory device by the redundant memory cells. An Independent claim is given for a memory or storage device.
