PURPOSE: An electron gun is provided to achieve improved background luminance and focus characteristics of a cathode ray tube by permitting the eyelet and cathode to be welded with each other in a parallel way. CONSTITUTION: An electron gun comprises a cathode(12) for emitting electron beams toward a phosphor screen; an eyelet(22) for accommodating the cathode; a plurality of electrodes for focusing and accelerating electron beams; and a bead glass for supporting the electrodes. Each of the cathode and the eyelet has a bent portion formed by bending, at a predetermined angle, an end of the portion extended in a tube axis direction. The bent portion of the cathode and the bent portion of the eyelet contact with each other when the cathode is accommodated into the eyelet. The bent portion of the cathode and the bent portion of the eyelet which contact with each other are welded with each other, to thereby fix the cathode to the eyelet.
