PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for increasing a color temperature of a color image are provided to obtain a desired color temperature irrespective of levels of R, G and B signals. CONSTITUTION: A gain calculator(110) calculates a gain of an input video signal on the basis of a selected gain function. A signal converter(120) converts input video signals into output signals in a predetermined form. The first offset value calculator calculates the first offset value corresponding to a selected color temperature variation of the output signals. The second offset value calculator calculates the second offset value on the basis of the gain and the first offset value. An offset adder(122) adds the second offset value to a signal selected from the output signals converted by the signal converter. A compensation gain calculator(150) calculates a compensation gain in consideration of the level of the signal obtained by adding up the second offset value and the selected output signal. The calculated compensation gain is added to signals other than the signal to which the second offset value has been added.
