PURPOSE: An upright type vacuum cleaner is provided to prevent a dust collecting case from being misjoined to a cyclone unit by improving the structure of the vacuum cleaner. CONSTITUTION: An upright type vacuum cleaner is composed of a body(10) having a suction brush(12), a cyclone unit(20) separating dust from air introduced through an introduction passage and discharging the purged air into a discharge passage, a dust collecting case(130) connected to the lower part of the cyclone unit detachably, a movable locking unit(140) moving the dust collecting case up/down and joining/disjoining the dust collecting case to the lower part of the cyclone unit, and a misjoin preventing unit. The misjoin preventing unit includes a position guide pin(131) formed at the lower part of the dust collecting case, and a guide slit(143) formed at the locking unit.
