PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly make a positioning control of a vacuum suction wheel, and to precisely match printing with the positioning control, in a sheet-fed printer. SOLUTION: A drive motor 18 for movement drives the vacuum suction wheel 4 in a width direction of a paper sheet. A potentiometer 19 detects an amount of movement and a direction of the vacuum suction wheel and gives a move detection signal to a control unit 15. The control unit 15 finds a moving position of the vacuum suction wheel according to the movement detection signal, and drives and controls the drive motor for movement, referring to the moving position based on printing specification conditions on images to be printed in a printing paper to position the vacuum suction wheel at a non- image area where no images exist. On this occasion, the control unit is synchronized with a feeding speed of the printing paper, and controls the vacuum suction wheel so as to position the wheel at the non-printing area.
