PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a (meth)acrylic ester that can inhibit the formation of polymers, and sludges caused by a peroxide in a esterification reaction process and that has the step where water formed by the esterification reaction is removed out of the reaction system by a azeotropic phenomena with organic solvents. SOLUTION: (Meth)acrylic acid and an alcohol are reacted in the presence of a catalyst and the formed water is azeotropically removed together with organic solvents to produce the (meth)acrylic ester. In this case, the organic solvent that contains the peroxide≤5 ppm and has resistance to peroxide formation is used as an azeotropic solvent for this process. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
