PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cargo handling system for a container terminal, adaptable for safe and efficient container cargo handling. SOLUTION: When a container 12 placed in a container placement zone 6 is loaded on a container ship 3, a container fixture 35 is fitted to the container 12 mounted on a container carrying vehicle 9 in a container fixture fitting zone 7 provided in a container carrying passage ranging from the container placement zone 6 to a cargo handling crane 2. On the other hand, when the container 12 is unloaded from the container ship 3 into the container placement zone 6, the container fixture 35 is removed from the container 12 mounted on the container carrying vehicle 9 in a container fixture removal zone 8 provided in the container carrying passage ranging from the cargo handling crane 2 to the container placement zone 6.
