PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide roof consisting of multiple parts having a simple, surely operable structure with a minimized whizzing sound. SOLUTION: To open a roof opening 36, a first roof element 18 of at least two roof elements performs a sliding motion within the plane of a vehicle roof 10, and at least the edge portion 28 closer to the first roof element 18 of a second roof element 20 adjacent to the first roof element 18 performs an avoiding motion having a motor component substantially vertical to the sliding motion of the first roof element 18. The motor component of the edge portion 28 of the second roof element 20 closer to the first roof element 18 is turned into the cabin of a vehicle, and the first and second roof elements 18 and 20 are mutually engaged at least in a closing position through forced guides 38, 40 and 50 for transmitting a force between the first and second roof elements 18 and 20, and connected to move together.
