PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for mending defects capable of surely mending woody materials while detection or mending of defects not followed by a loss of thickness of a surface of the woody material is automatically carried out and a natural condition is kept without unnatural feeling. SOLUTION: The apparatus for mending defects of woody materials comprises a CCD camera 3 for picking up an image of a surface of a material to be mended A; and a control unit 5 for judging presence of a defect on the surface of the material to be mended and a position, a shape, brightness or the like of the defect when the defect exists and outputting a control signal to a printer 4 so that an ink is injected according to the brightness of the defect based on the judged result.
