PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for controlling traveling of a crane for making a crane perform the work efficiently and travel stably. SOLUTION: The device comprises left and right wheels rotatably supported in the crane 1 and motors 7 and 8 for the traveling for independently driving the left and right wheels, and the method is for controlling traveling of the trackless crane 1 traveling along a guideline 11 set in the direction orthogonally crossing a rain slope. The left and right wheels and adjusted and fixed at such an angle of climbing inclination as to absorb the quantity of slippage caused by the rain slope, and the speed of the motors 7 and 8 for the traveling is synchronously controlled based on a commanded value of the speed.
