<p>PURPOSE: A method for decoding an MPEG-4 image is provided to shorten decoding time, increase error detection probability, reduce power consumption and obtain high error endurance. CONSTITUTION: A start code of a next video packet/video frame is searched in input video bit streams(101). Video packet/video frame headers following the searched video packet/video frame start code are decoded(102). It is confirmed whether or not macro block addresses have an error using macro block addresses of the current video packet and macro block addresses of the next video packet(105). Errors in the video packets are detected(106). Normal decoding or error hiding is carried out for the macro blocks of the current video packet according to the error detection result(107).</p> |
