<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CO inspection method that can perform reliable judgment without the influence of ambient condition when inspecting, especially by preventing the influence of a humidity factor. <P>SOLUTION: The CO inspection method of an engine which judges CO concentration in exhaust gas defines a judgment value range responding to the ambient condition of the inspection in advance, and measures the ambient condition with detecting the CO concentration when inspecting. Based on the judgment value range responding to the measured ambient condition, the judgment of the CO concentration is performed.
