PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor which can cool armature, in spite of its simple structure. SOLUTION: In the linear motor 1, which is equipped with a stator 2 and a moving unit 3 arranged facing each other and shifts the mover 3 along the stator 2, making use of the power generated between magnets 20 and armatures 30, the magnets 20 arranged in plural numbers on the side of the stator 2, forming magnet rows 20, etc., in the shifting direction x of the above mover 3, and the armatures 30 are arranged in plural numbers on the side of the mover 3, facing the magnet rows 20, etc., and also forming armature rows 30, etc., in the shifting direction x, and an air passage S where air flows accompanying the shifting of the mover 3, is made in the vicinity of the armature 30. Hereby, this motor can cool the armature 30 but does not need a special device for cooling, and consequently, a linear motor which is light weight and inexpensive by that amount can be obtained.
