PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white balance control method and a digital camera capable of properly controlling white balance in an imaging where no strobe light is emitted. SOLUTION: The white balance control method of this invention includes: steps S12 to S22 of obtaining a color distribution from an integral value of R, G, and B multiplied with a white balance gain for daylight and an evaluation value Fc() with respect to the color of an environment light source when no strobe light is emitted; steps S10 and S24 for obtaining an evaluation value Fy() with respect to the luminance of an environment light source; a step S26 of obtaining an evaluation value Hj of the environment light source from the evaluation value; and steps S30, S32 of calculating the white balance gain for white balance control to obtain a color of a mixed light source resulting from the daylight and the environment light source from the evaluation value Hj of the prescribed threshold value or more to be white and adjusting the gain to be a value between the white balance gain and the daylight white balance gain and proper to the environment light source.
