PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a butterfly throttle valve type carburetor for a stratification scavenging internal combustion engine in which a scavenging air passage is closed and air in a mixture duct is throttled at the time of starting the engine, thereby supplying enriched mixture to a crankcase so as to raise the startability. SOLUTION: An inlet portion of an air passage 7 of a carburetor body 6 has a circular cross-section. A butterfly type air control valve 16 is supported by a shaft on the inlet side of the air passage 7. A partition wall 8 divides an outlet side of the air passage 7 into upper and lower sections. The upper passage is used as the air passage 7a and the lower passage is used as the mixture passage 11 of which outlet side has a circular cross-section. A butterfly type mixture throttle valve 9 which is smaller than the air control valve 16 and which moves in linkage with the air control valve 16, is supported by a shaft near an outlet of the mixture duct 11. A valve stem 12 of the mixture throttle valve 9 and a valve stem 15 of the air control valve 16 are arranged in such a manner that they are inclined toward the side portions. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
