PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surfactant composition and a cleaning agent composition free from the troubles of stimulation and safety, having a narrow gelling range of an aqueous solution and having good handleability. SOLUTION: The surfactant composition contains (A) a nonionic surfactant and (B) an alkoxylate derived from a polyol mixture having a hydroxy value of≥300 mgKOH/g and composed mainly of a polyol having a carbon number of 8-18. The amount of the component B is 1-20 wt.% based on the sum of the components A and B. The cleaning agent composition contains the surfactant composition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
