The battery pack (20) includes two or more batteries (22,23) and a switch to select between the two batteries. When the main battery is exhausted, the switch is used to change over to operation to the second battery, enabling the main battery to be recharged. The battery pack (20) for use with portable electronic equipment comprises a tray shaped box (21) for accommodating two or more batteries (22,23). The batteries are exchangeable within the box, and a switch is provided to select between the two batteries in operation. The batteries can either be arranged parallel to each other, or parallel but inverted, according to the needs of the specific electronic equipment. The batteries are individually sealed units, with metal contact pads (221,231) accessible on the exterior surface. When the main battery is exhausted, the switch may be used to change over to operation to the second battery. This may take place automatically, providing sufficient operating time on the second battery to enable the main battery to be recharged. |
