<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an omnidirectional acceleration sensor which is small and reliable and uses a vibrator and a weight. <P>SOLUTION: The acceleration sensor comprises a vibrator (12) polarized in one direction and a weight (10) provided in succession to the vibrator. A pair of electrodes (14 and 16) adjoining each other in the polarization direction are provided on a first surface of the vibrator. The pair of electrodes are positioned on the diagonal line of the first surface. Even if acceleration is applied to any of three axes of the vibrator, a voltage occurs at a pair of electrode, with this electrode configuration, for realizing an omnidirectional acceleration sensor. By adjusting the size of a pair of electrodes relative to the vibrator, the sensitivity in three axes is easily adjusted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
