<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain desired engine torque near a full-loading level irrespective of the existence of deposition on a filter, by preventing reduction of a maximum injection quantity, contrary to the conventional manner, in the case where the amount of deposition on the filter is large. <P>SOLUTION: An exhaust purifier for an engine is provided with; the filter (4) at an exhaust passage (3) for collecting particulates; a calculation means (11) for calculating basic injection quantity in accordance with the extent of pressing onto an accelerator; an estimating means (11) for estimating the state of deposition on the filter (4); a setting means (11) for setting the maximum injection quantity based on the estimated state; and fuel supply means (6, 7, 8) for supplying fuel to an engine so as to have an injection quantity of which the basic injection quantity is limited to the maximum injection quantity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
