PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a VoIP communication method by a terminal adapter which enables both origination and termination by VoIP and communication by an existent telephone network to be selected and used through an existent telephone terminal. SOLUTION: An origination-side terminal adapter connects to the Internet according to an operation indication of a telephone terminal and transmits a terminating terminal number as an IP packet to a connection server, which connects to a termination-side terminal adapter by using a telephone network to give notice of termination; and the termination-side terminal adapter disconnects itself without answering to the termination from the connection server and connects to the connection server through the Internet instead. The connection server instructs both the terminal adapters to set a channel and both the terminal adapters after setting the channel converts speech voices into IP packets to start a telephone call through the Internet.
